Our next Bi-Monthly adventure is Thursday, February 19. We will leave the westside parking lot at Central UMC at 9:00 a.m. Via church bus. Off we go to the new U.S. Marshal's Museum in Fort Smith, AR. After the tour, we'll have lunch together at Ft. Smith's "Calico County," home of great homestyle cooking. Hope to be back to CUMC around 5:00 p.m.
Depending on the time after lunch...we may return to the downtown area for a walking tour of the Ft. Smith National Historic Site (outdoors)...weather permitting. This site is home of Judge Isaac Parker's (The Hanging Judge) Courtroom, remains of the first Fort Smith, the Trail of Tears, old jail, and a reconstructed gallows. The site preserves nearly 80 years of history from 1817 to 1896.
The total cost is $37 per person. $13 entry fee to the Marshal's Museum paid to Les Oliver by February 15th. $24 per person for lunch (which you pay on your own).
