WHY ARE WE DOING THIS…
One of our defining values here at Central is that we are grounded in prayer and Scripture. We believe these things are foundational to our lives. Reading through the Bible together as a church family is an opportunity to live out this value. When we spend time in God’s word, we are in His presence and this is one of John Wesley’s means of grace – spending time in the presence of God. It will also help to unite us as a church family as we all read and study and discuss the same passages each week.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Each week our Sunday sermon will be on one of the passages we read the previous week. The first level of participation is simply to worship with us each week!

If you would like to read along with us, you can find the reading plan here. Hint ~ we are not reading from front cover to back cover, we are reading chronologically! This means we will jump around from book to book. If you have the YouVersion Bible app on your phone, there is a The Bible Recap plan you can subscribe to that will list the readings each day to help you keep on track.

Each day after you read (or listen) to the Scripture, Tara Leigh Cobble has recorded her Bible Recap. This is a 6 to 10 minute segment that reviews and recaps what you just read. These can be found in audio format wherever you find Podcasts, or a video can be found on YouTube. If you would prefer to read, there are several books available with the Recap printed. Several of our adult Sunday school classes have committed to using the weekly discussion guide for their curriculum in 2024. There will be questions about the content read the previous week for discussion each Sunday. If you are interested in joining a Sunday school class that will be using this format, you can find more information here.

Frequently Asked questions
Do I have to read the text each week?
No, you can listen to the text or simply join us on Sunday morning for the sermon.
What if I don’t start until after January 1?
You can join us at any time! You can pick up the reading plan wherever we are that week.
What if I fall behind in the reading plan?
Come to church on Sunday morning to worship with us, and pick up wherever we are that week (it is ok to skip some).
Do I have to listen to/watch the Podcast?
No, that is completely optional.
Do I have to use the YouVersion Bible app?
No, that is an optional tool that makes things a little more convenient.
Is there a certain translation I have to read?
No, you may read any translation you are comfortable with. We do ask that you stick to the chronological order we are following simply so that we are all reading the same text each week.
